Write the runbook early
Document the process while you build it. Include the purpose, inputs, review steps and common exceptions. A short guide that reflects real work is more useful than a long manual no one opens.
Practise the exceptions
Walk the team through what happens when data is missing, an output is wrong or an integration stops working. Confidence comes from knowing how to recover as well as how to start.
Give improvement an owner
Agree who maintains the workflow and when the team will review it. A clear owner and a regular feedback loop help the process stay useful as the business changes.
